How to Book More Weddings as a Videographer

Real talk: here’s what actually helps you get more couples to say “yes” to working with you.

If you’re a wedding videographer trying to grow your bookings, you’re not alone. Whether you're newer to the game or stuck in a slow season, booking more weddings often comes down to a few key things: connection, visibility, and trust.

Here’s how to build those - and fill your calendar with the kind of weddings you want to shoot.

1. Show the Work You Want More Of

Your portfolio is doing a lot of the talking before you ever get an inquiry. So make sure it’s saying the right things. (If you don't have a wedding portfolio, find people or couples who are willing to do a mock shoot. Also, offering your services for free can be extremely helpful when building a portfolio.)
• Post the weddings you loved filming - not just the ones you happened to book.
• Focus on storytelling moments (emotions > aesthetics).
• Keep your website and socials up to date - if the last post was from 2022, couples will notice.

And bonus tip … don’t be afraid to share some behind-the-scenes. Let people see your energy, how you work, and the vibe they can expect.

2. Make It Easy to Trust You

Couples are making a huge decision - and most aren’t video experts. They’re looking for someone who’s organized, kind, and knows their stuff.

 • Respond quickly (even if it’s just a “Got your message, I’ll follow up soon!”)
• Keep your booking process simple. Clear pricing, easy-to-use forms, and fast answers go a long way. Its extremely important to care more about the couple than getting paid. There are so many expenses when it comes to weddings and you want to let the couple know that you have compassion for that.
• Share past client reviews and include their film in the same post (so people can see the work behind the words)

3. Connect with Vendors — Not Just Clients

Photographers, planners, DJs, venues - they’re all working with your future clients. Build relationships that aren’t just transactional.

 • Send vendors galleries or links after the wedding (tag them too!)
• Offer short highlight clips for them to use on their socials
• If you get along well with a vendor on-site, follow up. A quick DM or email can lead to referrals

Word-of-mouth in this industry is real - and often comes from people behind the scenes, not just couples. Working as a team on a wedding day helps everyone enjoy the day and can create life long memories for everyone.

4. Get Seen, Often

If you’re only showing up online when you have a new wedding to post, you’re missing opportunities. Keep yourself on people’s radar… even with small things.

 • Post short clips, tips, or even throwbacks
• Answer FAQs or share what it’s like to work with you
• Show up with consistency. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just present

People book the videographers they feel familiar with. Don’t be a stranger on your own platforms.

5. Follow Up With Intention

When someone inquires, don’t just send your pricing and hope for the best. Make it personal.

 • Ask them about their day - their vibe, their priorities, what they're most excited for
• Send a quick intro video or voice note (if that fits your brand)
• Remind them that this isn’t just about a transaction -  you care about telling their story

Connection builds trust. And trust books weddings.

The truth? Booking more weddings doesn’t come from flashy gear or perfect posts - it comes from being consistent, showing up, and genuinely caring about the couples you work with. Stay rooted in why you love what you do, and keep putting yourself out there.
